Are you got irritated by the Windows nanny that is always nagging you to remove unused icons from the desktop. This nuisance can be turned off in other ways but I will use the GPE to illustrate the general procedure for using a template.

-goto run and type gpedit.msc
-goto user configuration->administrative templates->desktop
-on right pane you'll see remove the desktop cleanup wizard


-double click on it to get this window.


-check disable radio button and apply.
